The data we present provides researchers with long time series reporting provincial government revenues and expenditures representing the core operations of those governments. Revenue and expenditure categories are defined in ways recognizable to voters, making these presentations particularly useful for researchers interested in understanding the sensitivity of major revenue and spending categories to changing economic conditions and political environments and the responses of voters to those changes. Like all data sets, ours has both weaknesses and strengths. Users should be aware of both and interpret their research findings accordingly.
